The Founders

Charles de Jonghe d’Ardoye – The Art Dealer Who Swapped Canvases for Kale

Charles is Belgian by birth, Cascais by choice. He spent 20 years traveling to the world’s art capitals, running galleries and closing deals surrounded by Warhols and Basquiats. Somewhere between the Champagne receptions and layovers, he realized he cared more about clean ingredients than clean lines. So he put his creative energy (and appetite for good design) into food, wellness, and building better spaces—like Espace General, where Heirloom lives. He brings the business brains and aesthetic flair. Also, he’ll make sure the apples are stacked beautifully.

Daniel Estriga – The Chef Who Knows Where the Chickens Are (Literally)

Daniel trained under some of the biggest culinary names in Portugal and Spain—Avillez, Castro e Silva, Quique Dacosta—so yes, he knows his way around a kitchen (and a farm). From Cascais to Dubai, he’s opened restaurants, led kitchens, and built menus that people still talk about. But deep down, he’s a local guy with a local palate—and strong ties to the farmers, fishermen, and artisans who make real food. At Heirloom, Daniel brings his chef’s eye to every product on the shelves—if he wouldn’t serve it to his kids, it doesn’t make the cut.

Our General Manager

André Barbosa – The Master of Mayhem (but make it look easy)

André is the guy who keeps the wheels turning, the shelves stocked and the fridges humming. Raised between the tradition of his Alentejo roots and the hustle of the city. So when he talks about what’s real food, he means it. With a Master’s in Food Engineering, and a thesis on organic farming, André spent 15 years in Portugal’s biggest supermarket chains. At Heirloom, André blends scientific smarts with everyday know-how to make sure everything just works.
